If you aren’t familiar with Better Oblivion Community Center, there’s a good chance you already know its members.

Formed earlier this year, BOCC is a collaboration between two of this century’s sharpest, most prolific songwriters - Conor Oberst and Phoebe Bridgers. These kindred spirits had already teamed up for “Would You Rather” on Phoebe’s stellar 2017 debut, Stranger in the Alps, but hearing them come together on a full album of originals is something else. Their songwriting partnership feels totally natural, and the way their vocals contrast had Rolling Stone raving that “Oberst’s voice often just a brooding floorboard creak behind Bridgers’ brightly bloodshot confidences.”

They’ve also embarked on their first tour together this year, playing most of their self-titled debut, dusting off gems from their solo albums and covering classic songs by The Killers, Death Cab for Cutie and The Replacements each night.
