At only 27, Harley Edward Streten - or Flume - can hold the title of record producer, musician, DJ, and star of a killer live show. He’s remixed songs from such artists as Lorde, Sam Smith, Arcade Fire, Hermitude and Disclosure. On his latest mixtape, Hi This Is Flume, he’s collaborated with Sophie, JPEGMAFIA and explored a more experimental sound than his previous dance hits influenced by house and UK Garage music.

“It was a crazy journey,” says Flume of his 2012 self-titled debut’s international success. “I was just some quiet kid in high-school and all of a sudden I got dropped into the deep end. Physically and mentally. It was a huge shock to the system.”

Naming himself after Bon Iver’s “Flume” he wrote his first record all on his first laptop, which reached #1 on the Australian iTunes charts. The follow up, Skin, saw collaborations with Vic Mensa, Allan Kingdom, Raekwon, Little Dragon, AlunaGeorge, MNDR and Beck.

His signature sound, dubbed by some as “The Flume Drop” has been replicated by countless sound cloud DJ’s, with more YouTube tutorials to follow along popping up all the time. However, nothing beats the dizzying synths, bass heavy melodies, and anticipation of the drop that comes with seeing Flume live.
